I'm back....?

Maybe, we'll see.  Haven't been on here in quite some time.  My interest has suddenly been renewed, although not sure why or if it will last.
Sadly, did not end up going to the Vampire W/E show.  Am hoping to go see Kings of Leon in Columbus this Sept.
Am waiting for this week to be over & it hasn't even begun.  Lots of work, none of which is very appealing.  Looking fwd. to going out on a date w/my husband Fri. night--going to see The Hangover!  woo-hoo

vampire weekend

I have 2 tickets to Vampire Weekend at Headliners in Lou., KY, on 9/9, but am using only one.  I need someone to go w/me!!!  I will be the oldest person there if I make it, which is the main reason why I have no one to go w/me.  I don't have that many friends to begin with; aside from that sad fact, none of them have any interest in going to see live music out of town on a Tues. night & none of them have even heard of Vampire Weekend.  Do I need to grow up?  Would that mean modifying my musical tastes accordingly?  I've already given in to not having a life & enjoying going to bed early because I have to wake up before dawn & spending weekends entertaining my 3-yr-old...I don't want to give up my music too!  Live shows at clubs is the last vestige of my youth that I cling to relentlessly (along w/Hello Kitty artifacts).  Um, not that I actually do it very often.  I went to see Silversun Pickups at the Southgate House last year & that was the highlight of 2007 (very bad year).  Saw White Stripes at Bogarts a few years ago.  Let's see, that's about it for this decade unfortunately.  I'm not counting the Police at Churchill Downs because that wasn't a club.

swimming is dangerous

I wish I'd never seen that segment about dry-drowning on the Today show.  Now I'm afraid to take my kid to the pool.   Why's the media always tryin to scare us??

cold cold boring day

Today was a cloudy, cold, rainy, drizzly day.  Reminded me of when I was on maternity leave.  I was reading A Million Little Pieces at the time & wrote down this quote from the book in summation of my dreary surroundings (re. the weather outside, not some kind of yellow wallpaper reference to post-partum depression or anything):
"The weather has gotten worse.  Black clouds fill the sky and patches of snow gather along the Ground.  What once was green is brown. What once had leaves now has none.  It's cold and it's winter and the world has gone to sleep."  ~James Frey
The thing is, it's freaking April, not December so WTF.  Enough already with the cold.
Watched No Country for Old Men again on Fri. night.  Friendo.  Still pretty damn good the 2nd time around.  We saw Horton Hears a Who in the theater on Easter weekend.  I love Katie.  Also saw TWBB.  The ending was fabulous.  Rented Atonement & was surprised at such gratuitous usage of the c-word.  And the fact that the evil girl's hair never seemed to grow.

Pooh Quote (pooH, not pOO)

I kinda stole this quote from a guest on Oprah, but anyway I like it too.

"Promise me you'll always remember—you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
-A.A. Milne (Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh)
